Fraud Prevention Webinar Series Deemed a Success 

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Hoodwinked Fraud Conference hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) along with the Oklahoma Department of Securities, the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office, the Oklahoma Banker’s Association and AARP Oklahoma had a record number of participants this past month. The webinar offered four educational sessions on July 8, 15, 22 and 29. After its last session, this 4-week series successfully reached more than 1,000 registrants across Oklahoma.

A short survey after the conference revealed that 88% of survey participants agreed that the information shared on the webinar was useful. It also showed that 97% of viewers agreed that the registration process was smooth, and 98% agreed that a presenter did an excellent job of presenting the information.

“Technology enabled us to expand our event beyond what we thought was possible during this pandemic,” said Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready. “We were able to reach much larger audiences — consumers in rural Oklahoma and in other states — yet still in a high–quality and meaningful way.”

This free event provided an opportunity for people to learn about the latest white-collar crimes and tips for fighting fraud. Following the success of its first-ever online conference, OID plans to offer webinars on Extra Help, Preventive Services, and Medicare Open Enrollment in the coming months.

“We appreciate the collaborative efforts of our partners to make this possible. We will continue to provide opportunities for Oklahomans to stay engaged with us during these trying times,” Medicare Assistance Program’s Director Ray Walker said.
